Visiting Disneyland Resort with Babies and Toddlers

We know what it is like to get in line to meet Minnie Mouse while also wondering if you will be done in time for the next nap or diaper change. We have visited Disneyland Resort with little ones, and we are ready to share information around the joys and challenges of those experiences. In fact, I visited Disneyland as a toddler myself… though I am afraid my advice from that experience is mostly limited to memories of my favorite attractions.

What follows are links to helpful articles for groups visiting Disneyland Resort with little ones. We get it, taking babies and toddlers anywhere involves different preparation, packing and planning, but we also know it can be uniquely rewarding. So, let us help you get there.

Bringing a Little One to Disneyland; What is it Really Like?

If you are planning to bring a toddler to Disneyland Resort, or trying to decide if that is a good idea, we have some inside perspective for you. We suggest starting with our article: Taking Toddlers to Disneyland: What is it Really Like?

That article comes from delightful and hard-won experience. We hope you find it helpful. For advice around specific concerns, keep reading.

How Young is Too Young for Disneyland?

We do not have a numerical answer to the question “How young is too young for Disneyland?” Like so many things we explore here on Mouse Brief, that is going to be so dependent on your family and your situation. Still, we hope the information here will help you understand the components of a Disneyland Resort vacation and determine whether it is right for you.

If you are concerned about whether there will be enough for your little one to do at Disneyland, we particularly recommend our article Is My Child Tall Enough for Disneyland? On Height Requirements.

That covers height minimums for rides and helps you understand the measuring and boarding process. Additionally, it has information about other rules affecting young children, like how young is too young to ride alone. We hope to help you preview what kind of experience young children can have at Disneyland Resort. Plus, it provides advice on what to do when members of your group are not tall enough for an attraction.

If you want to understand (free) Rider Switch and how it benefits groups with young children at Disneyland, read that article!

Is Disneyland Scary?

If you are concerned about whether your children might be intimidated or overwhelmed by a Disneyland experience, we suggest visiting the article Too Afraid to Ride: How to Handle Scary Disneyland Rides. Walt Disney said he created Disneyland as a place where children and adults could have fun together, and that has certainly been the true for our family. Still, our kids have found have found a few attractions to be overwhelming over the years.

Talking About Your Trip to Disneyland

For help navigating intimidating situations like that with your family, we recommend that article, and we also suggest having some good conversations before your visit. We have a guide to help you through those conversations here: Ask These Questions Before You Visit Disneyland. We believe understanding people’s expectations and limits, their challenges and joys and even just sharing some good time together can help make your trip the wonderful experience you are dreaming about. This is true for groups of any age.

On that note, if you want to use some questions to have fun in line once you are at Disneyland, see Fun Questions for Connection While Waiting in Disneyland.
