Oga’s Cantina at Disney is positively transportive in its theming. This Star Wars bar also offers some of the most inventive menu items in all of Disneyland Resort. So, of course, it tops the must-do list of many Disneyland visitors and Star Wars fans. But, what if you are visiting Disneyland with children? You may be wondering whether you can or should take kids to Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
That is what we are covering in this post today. We are going to be sharing our experience as well as Disney’s rules about this Star Wars bar. We hope this will help you evaluate whether you should take children (or even babies and toddlers) to Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland Park.
Wait… Does Disneyland Have Bars?
So, when Disneyland opened, Walt Disney decided that no alcohol would be served in the park. Things have changed over the years. When Disney California Adventure Park opened in 2001, alcoholic beverages were sold from opening day. You see, wine was actually part of the California theme of the park. Though the neighboring Disneyland Park stayed dry for general guests, areas of the resort outside of Disneyland Park—like the Disneyland Resort Hotels—also served alcoholic beverages.
Then, when Oga’s Cantina opened in Disneyland Park in 2019, it made news for being the first bar inside Disneyland Park that was open to general guests. (Meaning the first bar that was not part of Club 33.) Since that time, other locations inside Disneyland Park have begun serving alcohol as well.
That means, yes, Disneyland does have some bars, and Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is one of the most notable.
Oga’s Cantina, An Overview
Oga’s Cantina is located in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land inside of Disneyland Park. The entire land is themed to the Star Wars universe, and Oga’s Cantina is no exception. This bar seems to have been built for anyone who ever wanted to visit the Mos Eisley cantina as seen in Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope.
However, Oga’s Cantina is not the Mos Eisley cantina. When the Imagineers created Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, they purposely created a world that could exist inside the Star Wars universe, but one that had not been seen in any Star Wars film or show. Imagineers drew inspiration from the films, but they created Oga’s Cantina and its home planet of Batuu fresh for the Disney parks. You can read more about all of the this in our post: Where Batuu in Disneyland Fits into the Star Wars Universe.
The Atmosphere at Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland
Disneyland calls Oga’s a “local cantina, where bounty hunters, smugglers, rogue traders and weary travelers of all ages come together to refuel, enjoy music and conduct meetings—no questions asked.”
Unlike the Mos Eisley cantina, the music is not provided by a live band but rather a droid DJ. Disney says, “ As you plan your next smuggling run, please enjoy some bold musical entertainment courtesy of droid DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot.“ Translated, that means the audio-animatronics DJ droid figure was repurposed from a previous version of the Star Tours ride in Tomorrowland. It is a neat little detail!
At Oga’s Cantina, you can hear and see DJ R-3X at work, and you can also just take a look around and admire the famous “Disney details.” The bar has kind of a rough but warm space-frontier feel, and some of the unexpected ingredients for the beverages displayed around the bar. There is a lot going on here, and the details tell their own Star Wars story. As with elsewhere in the land, you can expect beautiful creative lighting and lots of panels and buttons and hanging starship things. Despite the reference to rogues in the description, characters are not scheduled to appear here.
Wherever you end-up sitting (or standing) at Oga’s Cantina, we suggest taking some extra time to look around.
The Menu Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland
The menu for Oga’s Cantina consists mostly of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, but there are a few snacks as well. Just be aware that the snacks are not likely to replace a meal for anyone. (If you are hungry, we really like Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo or Ronto Roasters in the surrounding Star Wars land.) The snacks offerings change, but they tend to be things like charcuterie boards or desserts.

Alcoholic beverages include beer and wine with some Star Wars flair added to the names and descriptions. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic ”concoctions” also have fun names and descriptions and some unexpected ingredients. For example, the “Buzz Button Tingling Foam” really did numb my lips for a bit when I drank my Fuzzy Tauntaun. Depending on what you order, the drinks also have some clever presentations, with a few coming in souvenir mugs. You can easily preview the menu for Oga’s Cantina here.
When it comes to drinks, we enjoyed what we had at Oga’s Cantina, but we actually struggled to finish them. For us, the pleasure was more in the clever presentations and world-building behind the drinks rather than the beverages themselves. Note that you cannot leave the bar with alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Also, there is a two drink maximum per guest per transaction for all alcoholic beverages.
Are Children Allowed in Oga’s Cantina?
So, let’s get down to one big question. Are kids welcome at Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland? Yes. Kids are allowed to dine at Oga’s Cantina, and they frequently do.
Disney does state that someone in a party must be 14 years of age or older. Also, guests under the age of 21 will not be served alcohol, even if they are of legal drinking age in their home country. There are also a few more rules and logistics when it comes to visiting this Star Wars bar with kids or without, so let’s take a look at those.
Disneyland Rules for Drinking at Oga’s Cantina
While children can enter and dine at Oga’s Cantina, only guests 21 and older can order alcohol and will be required to provide photo identification. US residents have several options for ID, but folks from outside to the US should provide a passport. Disney exercises a limit of two alcoholic drinks per guest per transaction at Oga’s Cantina.
How To Get Into Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina no longer takes dining reservations. This is a change that Disneyland implemented just a few months ago. Existing reservations will be honored, but Oga’s Cantina is no longer accepting new reservations. Effectively this means that you can access Oga’s Cantina by walk-up only. If the bar is full, you have the option of a traditional stand-by queue.
A host will only “seat” a party if everyone is present and at least one person need to be 14 or older. You do need to be inside Disneyland Park in order to visit Oga’s Cantina. You will need valid park admission and park reservations (not dining reservations) in order to access it.
Speaking of seating, Disney states, “Oga’s Cantina consists mainly of standing room, with limited seating. Seating is not guaranteed upon entry. Separate parties may be seated together, and large parties may be separated.” We have found this to be accurate in every way.
Reservations for Oga’s Cantina used to be very popular. If you see posts online today about how to score one, those posts are outdated. Oga’s now only takes walk-ups in Disneyland.

Should I Take Kids to This Star Wars Bar?
The answer to the question, “Should I take my children to Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland?” is of course going to vary from one family to the next. The good news is that you have the option: kids are welcome at Oga’s Cantina. Let’s look at some factors to consider, and then I will share our own experience at this Star Wars bar.
Are You Hungry?
Oga’s Cantina is not a restaurant. At the time of writing, there are five food items on the menu: two sweet items, a warm pretzel with dipping sauce, a spicy cucumber salad and a “harvest board.” We do not think any of these snacks would replace a meal for our family. This is particularly true, because the options seem to be low on protein and vegetables.
If your family only likes to take breaks for meals, Oga’s Cantina is probably not going to fill that need for you. If you would like an interesting indoor place to take a break from the weather and enjoy some beverages, Oga’s Cantina may be your cup of tea. Or, I mean, cup of… Angry Bloody Rancor? Just keep in mind that seating is limited and most guests actually end up standing.
Do You Like Sweet Things?
There are a lot of sweet menu items at Oga’s Cantina in both the food and drink categories. If you are ordering an alcoholic beverage you have more options including beer, wine and the aforementioned Angry Bloody Rancor. However, the non-alcoholic beverages definitely skew sweet, and several are caffeinated. If your kids do not regularly drink juice, soda or sports drinks, there may not be much on the Oga’s Cantina menu you would want them to consume during a day at Disneyland.
We are not at all against special treats on vacation. However, sugary beverages sure can adversely affect kids’ energy on days when we are asking a lot of them. We suggest reviewing the menu and determining in advance whether there are drinks or snacks that would work for your family.
Do Your Kids Need Room to Wiggle or Rest?
Oga’s Cantina can get busy, and it is set-up like a bar (aka limited seating). If your kids need space to move around or—conversely—a comfortable spot to relax, Oga’s Cantina is not the best spot for that. Some seating may be comfortable, but you are not guaranteed those spots.
If you are looking to take a break from attractions and recharge as a family, Oga’s Cantina may or may not work for you. That will really come down to…
Are Your Kids Star Wars Fans?
This last consideration is probably the biggest one. Oga’s Cantina is an extraordinarily well-themed bar. If you are a Star Wars fan, you will probably make lots of fun discoveries at Oga’s, and it will be worth the time and money. It is a special Star Wars experience that should be cheaper than building a droid or a lightsaber, and you will hopefully feel like you have journeyed to a universe (far far away) that you have always wanted to visit.
If your kids are not Star Wars fans, there are likely better ways to spend your precious vacation. Remember, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is an entire land dedicated to Star Wars. So, unless Star Wars is your passion and you want to do all the Star Wars things, or you always wanted to visit Mos Eisley’s cantina, you can get a good dose of Star Wars elsewhere.
I have to admit that we have only visited this Star Wars bar once. That is because our kids’ reaction to Oga’s Cantina was mostly… indifferent. They thought the setting was interesting, but really no more so than the Star Wars land outside. Our reaction was that the experience did not justify our bill. For us, this was a one-and-done, at least until the kids are older.
Our Experience at Oga’s Cantina
Part of the problem may have been that we were not really able to relax or admire much at this Star War’s bar. We were given a table with seating, which was nice, but two more groups were then shown into that seating area with us. It was tight. The second of these groups was visiting with a baby, so I was happy to scrunch a little so they could have a seat, but this meant that I ended-up with one of my kids on my lap, and no one was really able to actually relax.
I did take all the kids for a little stroll to admire the bar, but it was tough for them to see over and around all the taller grown-ups clustered around Oga’s Cantina. Since the cantina came with the added cost of some fairly expensive beverages, we decided we did not need to visit again anytime soon. The menu items were creative but nothing we had to have again. Neither of us adults are much interested in drinking anything alcoholic or sweet while in the Disney parks.
Now, perhaps we would have enjoyed our visit more if the kids were a bit older or our seating arrangements were better. Oga’s Cantina does not seem to be as popular as it once was, so we would probably have some more elbow room if we visited today. Still, our kids are not any more interested in Star Wars today than they were when we visited Oga’s Cantina, and we strive to be smart about how we use our vacation budget. We may try again if our kids develop an affection for Star Wars.

Good Dining Options With Kids
So, yes you can take kids to Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland. Hopefully, we have helped you in determining whether visiting this Star Wars bar is the right choice for your family.
If you decide that you will not visit Oga’s Cantina, or even if you just want to grab something to eat before you pop-in for a drink, you have some great options nearby. We grab a wrap at Ronto Roasters every time we visit Disneyland Park. We think both the Ronto Wrap and the Ronto-less Garden Wrap are a delicious combination of tangy and spicy, and the mix of textures is just right. Both the adults and kids in our family like these wraps. I personally like the food at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, especially the Felucian Kefta Garden Spread. In our experience, the kids meals here also provide a nice fusion of comfort food in an exciting setting.
