The new Bramsen Tropical Forests habitat opens this Friday, July 11 at Brookfield Zoo Chicago. We have been eagerly watching this massive outdoor primate habitat rise from the ground, and we cannot wait until the opening. We will be visiting this new habitat for gorillas, orangutans and monkeys on the day it is open to the general public.
UPDATE: Bramsen Tropical Forests is now open at Brookfield Zoo Chicago. Read about our visit here: Our Visit to the Brand New Tropical Forests at Brookfield Zoo Chicago.
If you too want to see this new Brookfield Zoo Chicago habitat, remember that you will need timed-entry tickets for the opening weeks. These timed-entry tickets are free with admission, but you do need to reserve them.

Get Timed-Entry Tickets for Bramsen Tropical Forests
We have a post about how to get these tickets here: How to See Huge New Tropical Forests at Brookfield Zoo Chicago.
We recently checked the ticket inventory, and it looks like there are still reservations available for the afternoons of opening weekend (July 11-13). Along with the chance to be among the first to see the new exhibit, visiting during opening weekend also gives you the opportunity to be part of the opening celebration. Brookfield Zoo Chicago has shared that “live music, animal ambassadors, Zoo Chats, family-friendly activities, and more” will be included in general admission during those opening days.
Tips for Visiting Brookfield Zoo Chicago
For tips on visiting Brookfield Zoo Chicago in general, please see our Big Guide to Brookfield Zoo Chicago. We have lost count of how many times we have visited this beautiful zoo, so we are sharing advice from our own experience in all seasons.
For a special look at a unique and child-friendly feature of Brookfield Zoo Chicago, we also recommend Wildly Fun Tips for the Play Zoo at Brookfield Zoo Chicago. That article is all about the play zoo, a space that is like a children’s museum inside the larger zoo. Sometimes we visit the zoo just for Hamill Family Play Zoo, and we recommend it to any visitors with young children. While the play zoo used to require a separate ticket, it is now free!
We also have an article on rides at Brookfield Zoo Chicago. You can find it here: Rides at Brookfield Zoo Chicago: 3 Fun Attractions to Try. The ferris wheel at the zoo is only there for a limited time, but it offers a neat alternative perspective on Bramsen Tropical Forests.
