ROY OLIVER DISNEY

Along with his younger brother Walt Disney, Roy Oliver Disney was co-founder of what would become the Walt Disney Company. While Walt Disney was the creative dreamer of the two, Roy O. Disney deftly handled the finances which made the dreams reality. Roy O. Disney was born in 1893. He started the Disney company with his brother in 1923. Disneyland was opened with his help in 1955, and Roy O. Disney was instrumental in bringing Walt Disney World to fruition even after his brother’s untimely death in 1966. Roy O. Disney died shortly after Walt Disney World opened in 1971.
