Quick-Service Dining, Disneyland 101 Glossary

This is an entry for “quick service dining” in our Disneyland 101 Glossary: Disneyland Resort definitions in under 101 words, from Mouse Brief. Keep reading after the entry for frequently asked questions about quick-service restaurants at Disneyland Resort.

If you are looking at Disney food locations, you may notice they are grouped into certain broad categories. A quick-service designation usually means a restaurant where you will line-up and pay at a register, or you may have the opportunity to use mobile ordering at many of these locations. When your food is ready, you will pick it up from the counter where you ordered, or a window near the register, and bring it to your table or another place where you wish to dine. You will also clear your own table when you are done.

Disneyland Quick Service Dining FAQs

What is a quick service restaurant at Disneyland?

Disneyland Resort divides their dining choices into categories. This helps guests have an idea about what to expect at each of the many restaurants, lounges and snack carts around the resort. One of these categories is “quick service.”

At a quick service restaurant you can generally expect the following:

  1. Reservations are not available for quick service restaurants, but you can place mobile orders at most of them.
  2. At a quick service restaurant, you will place your order at a register (usually at a counter or window) or through mobile ordering.
  3. You will pay at the time you place your order.
  4. You will retrieve your own food when it is ready and carry it to a dining location you select for yourself.
  5. You will “bus your own table” aka clear your own remaining food and dishes when you are done.

In other words, quick service restaurants generally do not have wait staff, and you will pay for your food at the time you order it. Of course, there are exceptions to these expectations, and every quick service location is different. Notably, Disneyland is famous for its excellent customer service, so you may find that you will get more assistance at a quick service location than you anticipated.

Which Disneyland Resort restaurants are quick service locations?

Disneyland Resort has many quick service restaurants, and they are constantly changing. Quick service restaurants are located in Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, the Disneyland Resort Hotels and in Downtown Disney District. You can find a list on the Disneyland website here. At the time of writing, Disney designates 80 Disneyland Resort restaurants as quick service dining locations.

A few examples of the many quick service dining locations in Disneyland Resort include: Flo’s V8 Cafe in Disney California Adventure Park, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree in Disneyland Park, Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar and Grill at Disneyland Hotel and Blue Ribbon Corn Dog in Downtown Disney District.

Can I make a reservation for a Disneyland quick service dining location?

Typically, no. Disneyland does not accept reservations for quick service dining restaurants. Occasionally, a quick service dining location is part of a dining package. When this happens, you can reserve the dining package, but you will usually not have a reserved table, and sometimes, not even a specific time.

If you are looking for a casual dining location that still provides reserved seating and table service, you can peruse Disneyland’s “casual dining” category.

Furthermore, if you are concerned about a long wait at a quick service dining location (there may be a line to order), you can often use mobile ordering. You can learn how to use this service here: Disneyland Mobile Ordering Guide.

What is mobile ordering at Disneyland Resort?

Mobile ordering is a free service at Disneyland Resort which allows you to use your mobile device to order food or beverages through the Disneyland app. You select and pay for your items in advance (the service is free, but the food is not). You also choose a pick-up time. At that designated time, you retrieve your items from the restaurant.

We have a guide to the whole mobile order process here: Disneyland Mobile Ordering Guide

Which Disney restaurants offer mobile ordering?

Most Disneyland Resort quick service locations offer mobile ordering. You can find these particular restaurants in the Disneyland app by looking for an icon displaying a fork and knife in front of a rectangle (see examples in the image below). Just select these icons to begin your order and follow the subsequent steps.

Generally, snack carts and character or fine dining restaurants do not offer mobile ordering.

Is there a fee to use mobile ordering in Disneyland?

No! There is no extra fee to use the mobile order service to purchase food and beverages in Disneyland Resort. While you will need to pay for any items you order, there is no extra cost for using the mobile service at Disneyland Resort. We really recommend taking advantage of this service, and—again—you can find our guide to using it here: Disneyland Mobile Ordering Guide.

Can I bring my own food to Disneyland?

Yes! You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages to Disneyland. We like eating the food from Disneyland restaurants, but we also like saving money and bringing our own food to Disneyland.
