You may rent lockers at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and on the Esplanade at Disneyland Resort. The cost for each locker varies by size. A locker can be a good option if you choose to bring layers or rain gear to the parks but prefer to skip using a bag or stroller to carry them. Lockers are available on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park and on the Esplanade near both parks’ entrances. Lockers in the parks themselves are accessible only during opening hours and with valid admission.

What can I store in the lockers at Disneyland Resort?

I have not seen an official list of what you can and cannot keep in the rental lockers at Disneyland Resort, but do keep in mind that the lockers are past Disneyland Resort security, this means anything you wish to keep in the lockers must first pass through the Disneyland security checkpoints.

You can find a list of prohibited items on the Disneyland website here. Also keep in mind that individual security cast members have the ability to make judgement calls about things not on this list.

Furthermore, remember that you can only access lockers inside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park during those parks’ operating hours, so do not store anything you would need to access after the parks close. You cannot store items overnight. Similarly, you would only be able to access the lockers on the Esplanade when that area is open.

Can I store my luggage in a locker at Disneyland Resort?

Yes, you are allowed to store luggage in Disneyland Resort lockers as long as your luggage fits in the available lockers (keep reading for dimensions) and does not contain prohibited items. Remember, you need to travel through the Disneyland Resort security checkpoints in order to reach any of the lockers.

If this is your plan, we suggest leaving plenty of time to go through security. The security cast members will search through your luggage, and this will probably take some time.

A more practical alternative to storing your luggage in a locker might be leaving it with bell services at your hotel. Even if you are not staying at a hotel in the area or have already checked-out, some hotels may agree to hold your luggage, possibly for a fee.

What size are the lockers at Disneyland Resort?

We have not personally measured the lockers at Disneyland Resort, and the dimensions of the locker rentals are not officially listed on the Disneyland website. However, planDisney panelists have answered this question before, and these are the dimensions they provided:

Rental lockers at Disneyland Resort have the following dimensions: Small (9.5” x 11” x 18”), Medium (12.5” x 17” x 18”), Large (15” x 16.6” x 22.6”), Extra-large (15” x 23” x 22.6”), and Jumbo (18” x 25” x 37”).

You can find small and medium lockers inside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. The three larger sizes are only available outside of the parks on the Esplanade.

How much does a rental locker cost at Disneyland Resort?

The price of Disneyland Resort rental lockers varies by size. You can find the current rates here. At the time of writing, they were between $7 and $15, but check that link for the latest.

The good news is that there is just one fee for the whole day. Once you rent your locker, can return to it and unlock and re-lock it as many time as you wish that day. However, if you wish to rent a different locker, you will need to pay a new fee. For this reason, guests with Park Hoppers may prefer to rent a locker on the Esplanade rather than in one of the parks. (See the next FAQ for information about locker locations.)

Disney California Adventure Park also has free (for two hours) short-term lockers outside of the entrance to the Grizzly River Run attraction. These lockers are for stowing electronics of other items that could be damaged by the water on the ride. They are free for the first two hours. If you do not end your rental within two hours, you will be charged for additional time.

Where can I find lockers at Disneyland Resort?

Disneyland Park has lockers on the east side of Main Street, U.S.A. As you enter the park walk up Main Street, U.S.A. and past the Main Street Cinema; look for the tiny little side street to your right after you pass Main Street Cinema and then Market House. It may look like lockers would not fit, but there are a good many tucked back there! (That’s some Disney magic.) You can rent small and medium size lockers at this location.

At Disney California Adventure Park, you are also going to look for lockers to your right at you enter the park from the main entrance. These ones are much closer to the entrance and right near Mortimer’s Market on Buena Vista Street. If you pass under that little bridge over the street, you have gone too far. This location has small and medium size lockers.

Also in Disney California Adventure Park, you can find free short-term lockers at the entrance to Grizzly River Run. These small lockers are meant to keep your electronics and other valuables safe and dry while you ride the very wet Grizzly River Run. The lockers are free for the first two hours. You will be charged beyond that.

Finally, there are lockers on the Disneyland Resort Esplanade. This is where you can find the larger lockers, and this is a good place to store your things if you are planning on hopping back and forth between the parks. Of course, you can also rent lockers in both parks: it will just cost twice as much. There are two sets of lockers on the Esplanade. They are to the left of each of the two theme park entrances.

Do rental lockers run out at Disneyland Resort?

It is possible but not common for Disneyland Resort to sellout locker rentals. As with most things, this is far likelier to happen on days with high crowds.

Additionally, you may see rental lockers run out on days when Disneyland is releasing coveted merchandise (like popcorn buckets).

If you think you will be renting a locker, we recommend that you do so upon arriving at Disneyland. The locker rental fee covers the whole day for one price, so there is no extra cost for renting early. Plus, the locker rentals are located just inside and outside the entrance to each of theme parks, so they are an easy stop first thing and something you could do if you enter the parks before rope drop.

Why would I want to rent a locker at Disneyland Resort?

Honestly, we do not usually rent lockers at Disneyland Resort. We keep our essentials in backpacks so we can have them on hand. Plus, we end up keeping some items in the bottom of our stroller.

We do this because we have young children, but depending on the ages or needs of your travel party, a locker rental might be right for you. In the cooler months, we recommend visiting Disneyland Resort with layers and sometimes rain gear. The weather can change dramatically over the course of the day, so you will want to be prepared. A locker is a nice place to keep jackets and ponchos.

We have some suggestions on what to wear to Disneyland here: (1) What to Wear to Disneyland in Cold or Wet Weather (2) 5 Basic Principles of What to Wear to the Disney Parks and (3) Disneyland in the Rain: Strategies for Your Rainy Disney Day.

Regardless of the weather, some folks also like to wear rain gear when riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or Grizzly River Run. If this is the case for your group, you might prefer to store that gear in a locker rather than carrying it around all day. We wrote about dressing for wet rides here: What to Wear for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland (the advice applies to Grizzly River Run as well).

You may also wish to rent a locker to store merchandise you purchase inside the parks, but keep in mind that Disneyland Resort also provides merchandise check services for free at certain locations. You can ask about this at the time of your purchase, or take a look at the Disneyland Resort website here.
