Disney has designated summer 2026 as “Kids Rule Summer.” This means special seasonal offerings aimed at young families plus a sizable ticket discount for kids ages 3-9. We extensively covered one of these special offerings in We Tried the Free Lightsaber Building Experience at Disneyland, And in this post, we are looking at one of the three free activity books that Disneyland is handing out this summer. These books are aimed at kids, but you know Disneyland prides itself on being a place for kids-at-heart too, so come take a look at this post if you love Star Wars, scavenger hunts and mysterious creatures. Today, we are featuring the free (with Disneyland Park admission) Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu.
Disneyland Park has two free activity books this summer: Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu and Mickey’s Park Rangers Adventure Guide. Disney California Adventure Park has a special map full of activities called Mabel’s Seek and Find. These are three different books, but all are free this summer. We collected and used all of them, so please keep reading our posts for a peek at each, but today we are looking at the book you can find in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park.

Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu
Of the three free activity books, the biggest hit in our family is Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu. As the name suggests, this is a guide to the fantastical creatures you can spot around Batuu.
Now if you are not sure what Batuu means, that is okay, we have a post on that very subject here: Where Batuu in Disneyland Fits into the Star Wars Universe. But in brief, Batuu is the Star Wars world Imagineers created specifically for Disney theme parks. When you enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you are walking onto the planet of Batuu with its village of Black Spire Outpost and forested region concealing a Resistance base. So, this guide is specifically for creatures around Batuu, aka Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, aka the Star Wars themed land in Disneyland Park.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is an incredibly detailed themed environment. Only recently have I taken time to explore the stores there (I am just not a shopper), and I have been stunned by the layer upon layer of world building I have found. However, I think I might get more out of this kind of exploration if I was more familiar with the Star Wars universe.
What is This Free Star Wars Creature Book at Disneyland?
This is what makes Bina’s Creature Guide such a special little freebie. Bina invites you to explore the out-of-the-way little corners of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge by guiding you to find creatures hidden all over the Star Wars land. She also gives you little bits of Star Wars lore when describing the creatures. It’s a neat little field guide that really helped us connect more deeply with the land.
Each page of the guide introduces you to a different creature by providing the creature’s name, general location, a description of interesting attributes and a color sketch. You can use this information to locate and observe the creatures in Disneyland! At the bottom of each page, Bina also asks you a question about the creature.

Why You Should Get Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu at Disneyland
Our kids had a great time exploring with this free book simply for the sake of discovery. Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu was their favorite of the free activity books at Disneyland this year and was a prize in itself.
Disneyland has offered Bina’s Guide on and off since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, so it is not specific to the 2026 Kids Rule Summer. Still it does seem to be part of Disney’s effort to reach out to families with young kids. It worked for our family.
Our kids loved having a reason to poke their noses into shops around Batuu and study funny enclosures and gooey tanks. We all enjoy observing and learning about animals, and Bina provided a clever spin on this activity. Our children also do not know much abut Star Wars, so I think this free activity guide gave them a kind of special peek into the expansive Star Wars universe in a way that is accessible to kids.
Now that said, I do think it is possible that some little ones might find Batuu’s creatures a little intimidating. Nothing made any threatening moves or indicated we might be in peril, but I could see how several of the creatures could be kind of spooky for some kids. The good news is that you can always just walk away from a scary figure. If your children are frightened of the general atmosphere in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, this activity may not be for them. But if they are comfortable in the Star Wars land and like exploring, give this a try. You can always start by searching for creature tracks in the pavement.

Where to Get Bina’s Creature Guide at Disneyland Resort
Keep in mind that Bina’s Guide has come and gone over the years, so grab this precious offering while you can!
Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu is available at registers around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Your surest bet, and the one most on-theme, is to visit the Creature Stall shop in the marketplace. Ask the cast member behind the register for Bina’s Guide. They usually will also hand you a little pencil for taking notes during your exploration.
We also found that cast members were happy to help us in our search. When we brought out our books around Stars Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, many cast members were eager to give us tips in our search and help us engage with the creatures.
You should be able to find the creatures themselves, or signs of them, in various locations around the Star Wars land. You can incorporate your exploration into your larger adventures (or lunch) around Batuu or go on a dedicated quest.
