DARK RIDE

This is an entry in our Disneyland 101 Glossary: Disneyland Resort definitions in under 101 words, from Mouse Brief.

While not a term officially used in Disney marketing, you may hear other guests classify certain attractions as a “dark ride” These are typically slow-moving indoor rides in low-lighting that tell a story. These rides take advantage of their dark setting to enhance set-pieces with black-lights and disguised special effects. This is a category that was essentially created with the founding of Disneyland Park and is best represented by the original rides found just beyond Sleeping Beauty Castle in Fantasyland like Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride or the recently renamed and reimagined Snow White’s Enchanted Wish.
