Disneyland Resort FAQs with Mouse Brief: Can I bring water into Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park? Should I bring a reusable water bottle to Disneyland Resort?

Yes, you can bring water and a water bottle into Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, and we absolutely recommend that you do! However, we want to add that anything you bring through security at Disneyland Resort is subject to inspection by the security cast members. They may use their discretion to decide what is and is not allowed, and Disneyland policies do change. At the time of this writing, non-glass water bottles are allowed inside Disneyland Resort. You do NOT need to empty the water out as you would at an airport security checkpoint. You can bring a full water bottle into Disneyland Resort.

Are there any restrictions for bringing water?

You can find the current list of prohibited items on the Disneyland Resort website. For this question, we want to highlight that you cannot bring any glass containers, so you will want to select your water bottles accordingly. Other prohibited items include loose ice and alcoholic beverages. Again, you can find the full and official list of prohibited items (other restrictions cover drugs, weapons and large coolers…) on the Disneyland website, and all items are screened and subject to security approval.

Where can I fill my water bottle at Disneyland Resort?

We think bringing a water bottle to Disneyland is a great idea, and we always bring ours! We like that we can easily refill our water bottles throughout the day and throughout the resort. You have several choices for where to fill your water bottle at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland Resort Hotels and in the Downtown Disney District.

Bottle-Filling Stations

First, Disneyland Resort has designated water bottle filling stations! While you may certainly fill your water bottle at a regular drinking fountain, the water bottle filling stations make the task much easier. The water spigots are placed vertically with ample room for placing a water bottle underneath. If you have ever tried to position your water bottle at an angle under an arc of drinking fountain water, you know what a difference these stations can make. As an awesome—decidedly Disney—bonus, several of these water bottle filling stations are themed to their surroundings! (Check-out the one by Alice in Wonderland for a giggle. Thanks Imagineers!)

Disneyland Resort seems to be actively adding new bottle-filling stations. You can find all of their locations mapped on the Disneyland website or on the Disneyland app. Just use the search function in the app to search for “bottle filling stations” and peruse the resulting map. So many great places to fill your water bottle in Disneyland!

Free Ice Water at Disneyland Quick Service Restaurants

Second, cast members at quick service dining locations around Disneyland Resort will give you a cup of ice water for free. You just need to ask! Some quick service locations, like Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland Park, also have a spigot accessible to guests near the seating area. A restaurant cast member will be able to direct you to where you can get water at each restaurant.

What kind of water bottle should I bring to Disneyland?

You probably already have a preference for your own water bottles and know what works for you. Do keep in mind are that glass containers are not allowed through security, so you will want to choose an alternative material. Additionally, you can see that places to refill water bottles are plentiful around the Disneyland Resort, so we recommend leaving the large water bottles behind as well. You can easily refill your water bottle throughout the day, and there is no need to subject yourself to the weight of a day’s worth of drinking water.

We like to carry our water bottles in small backpacks (or our stroller). Most every attraction at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park has a designated place to stow bags and other items. If an attraction does not have a special storage place, it is probably slow (or no) moving enough that placing the items by your feet or in your lap is fine.
