Disneyland Resort occasionally offers ticketed after-hours events. For roughly the first six months of the year, Disneyland has evening Disneyland After Dark events with themes including Sweethearts Nite, Disney Channel Nite, Pride Nite and Star Wars Nite. There is usually theme-specific entertainment, merchandise and food, and guests have access to select attractions and character interactions. Tickets are open to the general public. These tickets are separate from a daily general admission ticket or Magic Keys but do usually allow guests to arrive a few hours before official park closing and the party beginning.

Disneyland After Dark, FAQs

Are the Disneyland After Dark parties always the same?

No. Each Disneyland After Dark party has a theme. Some of these themes get repeated year after year, while others do not return.

Each party follows a general blueprint that includes event-specific entertainment, rare character appearances, dance parties, themed photo opportunities and special food and merchandise. The special flavor of these offerings depends on the theme. You will also usually get access to some Disneyland attractions; not all attractions will be operating during your party time.

A Disneyland After Dark Star Wars Nite is going to have a different feel than Disney Channel Nite (though both will play to nostalgia), so look at the descriptions to determine whether a particular Disneyland After Dark event is right for you.

Also keep in mind that different parties are also priced differently. So you may save money buy choosing one party theme or date over another.

What are some examples of Disneyland After Dark parties?

Here are the Disneyland After Dark themes for 2026: Sweethearts’ Nite, 70 Years of Favorites, Disney Channel Nite, Star Wars Nite and Pride Nite. All of those are themes we have seen in previous years except for 70 Years of Favorites.

Disney Channel Nite was first offered in 2024. Star Wars Nite, Sweetheart’s Nite and Pride Nite are perennial favorites. Other past themes include 90’s Nite and Princess Nite. We have seen lots of appeals to nostalgia and particular fandoms.

Are Disneyland After Dark events ever at Disney California Adventure Park?

Disneyland After Dark events are specifically at Disneyland Park, but there are some after hours parties at Disney California Adventure Park too.

The most prominent of these is Oogie Boogie Bash—A Disney Halloween Party, which takes places on various nights from mid-August through Halloween. Another evening party with lots of dates at Disney California Adventure Park is Grad Night. This event is exclusive to graduating high school students.

How do I go to a Disneyland After Dark party?

To attend a Disneyland After Dark party you will need a ticket specifically for that party. These parties are hard ticket events, and you must purchase a ticket for the particular date and party. Tickets typically go on sale six weeks to a few months before the party.

You can check the Disney Parks Blog for announcements about sale dates. These tickets can sell-out, so it is best to make a decision about whether you would like to get one in advance. Do not expect to purchase a ticket on the day of the party itself.

A general them park admission ticket (aka what you would normally use to get into Disneyland during regular hour) will not grant you access to a Disneyland After Dark event. Even if you have a ticket to visit Disneyland Park on the same day as the party, it does not work as a party ticket.

Do I need a park reservation to go to a Disneyland After Dark event?

No. Your ticket for a Disneyland After Dark party is date specific. It essentially acts as both a ticket and a reservation, because you can only use it on the specified date.

You do not need to make a park reservation to go to a Disneyland After Dark party nor will you be able to link one to your party ticket. The only time you would make a park reservation is if you plan to visit with a general admission ticket earlier during regular park operating hours. You do not need a reservation for the “pre-party park mix-in” either (see next FAQ).

What is a pre-party park mix-in?

Traditionally, when you buy a Disneyland After Dark party ticket, it is valid for the established party hours plus some extra time before the party begins.

This extra time is called “pre-party park mix-in” because it happens during Disneyland Park’s regular operation hours. You get to enter Disneyland Park before your party (typically up to three hours before) and “mix-in” with the regular day guests during regular hours. To do this, you just need your party ticket.

I am visiting Disneyland on a day when an after hours party is happening, but I do not have a ticket. What should I do?

To answer this question, let’s first begin with a look at how Disneyland Park operates on party days. At the time of writing, Disneyland Park typically closes at 9pm on evenings when it is hosting Disneyland After Dark. This is an earlier-than-usual closing time. The parties then run from 9pm to 1am. To enjoy the party offerings after 9pm, you would need to have a party ticket for that day. If you have general admission, your closing time is 9pm. Party guests are allowed to enter the party starting at 6pm and stay through the end of the party.

If you are visiting Disneyland Resort on a day when Disneyland Park is hosting a Disneyland After Dark party, you have a few options. First, you can take a rest day on that party date. We always do this during a multi-day visit, and we shared why here: Maximize Value: Take a Rest Day at Disneyland. The logic behind this is that you want to use your (expensive!) Disneyland Resort theme park ticket when both parks have long operating hours to maximize the value of your ticket. Plus, resting helps you really enjoy the days when you are in the parks. Here are some ideas for how to spend that rest day while still enjoying Disneyland Resort: Terrific Ways to Have Fun at Disneyland Without a Ticket

Still, we understand vacation dates are not always flexible (or long enough), so another option if you want to maximize your park hours is simply to visit Disney California Adventure Park on Disneyland After Dark party days. It will probably have longer hours than Disneyland Park on party days, and you can avoid the party mix-in crowd surge (and maybe some FOMO about the party).

The thing is, most visitors to Disneyland Resort on party days will probably have a similar idea. So if you have a Park Hopper ticket, which allows you to visit both parks on the same day, or if you plan on ending your day early anyway, we actually recommend visiting Disneyland Park on party days. Many folks with one park per day tickets will be avoiding Disneyland Park for the reasons described in the last paragraph. If you go against the trend, you can experience lower crowds during the day at Disneyland Park and then hop over to Disney California Adventure Park or back to your hotel when the party-goers arrive.
