Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party is the full name for Disneyland Resort’s after hours Halloween themed party. Here is what you need to know:
Where does Oogie Boogie Bash take place?
Oogie Boogie Bash is the Halloween party for Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The party takes place after hours at Disneyland Resort’s second theme park: Disney California Adventure Park.
Walt Disney World in Florida also has a hard ticket Halloween-themed party, but it is called Mickey’s No-So-Scary Halloween Party, and it is a different event. Oogie Boogie Bash only happens in California.
When does Oogie Boogie Bash happen at Disneyland Resort?
Oogie Boogie Bash happens on select nights during Disneyland Resort’s Halloween Time. If you are imagining this means a few nights during October… golly, are you in for a surprise.
Dates vary from year to year, but you can now expect the first Oogie Boogie Bash to happen in early August and end with Halloween night itself. As I write this post in 2026, the first party is scheduled for August 18, 2026 and Halloween Time itself is running from August 21 to October 31, 2026.
Notice that the first Oogie Boogie Bash actually happens before the official start of Halloween Time. We have noticed that this seems to be a consistent pattern in recent years.
What does it mean that Oogie Boogie Bash is an “after hours” party?
Oogie Boogie Bash does not happen during regular operating hours at Disney California Adventure Park. It begins after the park officially closes. You will need a special ticket for this event. A general admission ticket, which gets you into Disney California Adventure Park earlier in the day, will not allow you to stay for the party. That is why Oogie Boogie Bash is called an after hours party or Hard Ticket Event.
A few important things to note here (1) a party ticket does get you into Disney California Adventure Park a few hours before the party, so you can enjoy the park for a bit before the party starts and (2) Disney California Adventure Park usually closes relatively early on days when there is an Oogie Boogie Bash. (For example, Disney California Adventure Park usually closes at 8pm on party nights rather than the far more typical 10pm.)
Whether you are attending Oogie Boogie Bash or visiting Disneyland Resort as a regular day guest, it is a really good idea to understand how the switchover works between regular operation and the party. How do I get tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland?
So, we have already established (see previous FAQ) that you will need a separate event ticket for Oogie Boogie Bash. A general admission ticket will not work for Oogie Boogie Bash. Furthermore, your Oogie Boogie Bash ticket is specific to the day you will attend the party. You cannot just buy an Oogie Boogie ticket and use it at any Oogie Boogie Bash. You will need to buy one ticket for every attendee over two years of age, and you will need to buy a ticket for the evening you plan to attend Oogie Boogie Bash.
There are no refunds and no date-changes. If you do run into a particular problem, you can try your luck with Disney’s guest services, but the official policy is no refunds and no changes.
Tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party go on sale roughly two months before the first party. These tickets can and do sell-out. Popular dates will sell-out quickly, but, in recent years, we have seen availability for some dates late into the season. If you know you want to go on a specific day, we suggest buying earlier rather than later. Officially, you cannot buy tickets on the same day as the party.
Ticket prices vary by date. We have not seen any discounts for Oogie Boogie Bash recently, so what you see is what you get. If you want a cheaper price, pick a date with a lower cost ticket.
Do I need a Disney California Adventure Park ticket to go to Oogie Boogie Bash? Do I need a park reservation?
The only valid admission for Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party is a party ticket. You do not need, nor can you use, a general admission ticket to enter the party. Likewise, Magic Key holders will need a party ticket to attend Oogie Boogie Bash. Their Magic Key will not grant admission to the party, though it does have some perks, like the ability to book earlier than the general public.
Oogie Boogie Bash does not use the Disneyland Resort park reservations system. Your party ticket is date specific, so you will not be making a reservation. However, if you visit Disney California Adventure Park earlier in the day, you will need both general admission and a park reservation. Do keep in mind that an Oogie Boogie Bash ticket typically grants you access to the park three hours before the actual start of the party.

Can I enjoy Halloween Time at Disney California Adventure Park without going to Oogie Boogie Bash?
Absolutely! Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and Downtown Disney District all get dressed-up for the season, and there are even some cool ride overlays.

Yes, guests of all ages can wear costumes to Oogie Boogie Bash. In fact, this is a great time to wear a costume to Disneyland Resort, because the regular rules are loosened for the party.
What do we mean by that? Well, during regular operating hours, guests over thirteen are more limited over what they can wear in the park. Basically, Disney asks adults to wear themed shirts or accessories rather than full costumes. Disney does not want another guest getting you confused with a character!
