Hopefully you have had a chance to take a look at our recent post on Multiple Experiences Passes. If you did—first—thanks for reading! Second, you have seen just one example of how using a mobile device and the Disneyland app can make your Disneyland Resort visit more efficient. The only problem is that all those great features can really drain the battery on your mobile device! For this reason, we highly recommend bringing a power bank (also called portable charger or back-up battery) to the Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Keep reading for our advice on back-up batteries and recommendations on our favorites.

Best Power Bank or Back-Up Battery for Disneyland
Because we use our mobile devices to do so much in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, we ALWAYS bring a power bank (back-up battery, portable charger, whatever) to make sure our devices can last the day.
Nano Back-up Battery With Integrated Plug
Our favorite portable charger is tiny and has an integrated plug, so we do not need to carry any cables to the parks (one is needed for charging at the hotel/home). It sticks out from the bottom of the phone and basically just extends the lengths of our phones while it is charger: we find it easy to handle and store while in use and not in use.
We have had a great experience with it in Disneyland and… well, basically everywhere. We have two in different colors. Here are the links to both the USB-C and lightning port version of it:
This is a link to the version with the integrated USB-C plug.
Here is a link to the version with the integrated lighting connector.
A Larger Battery With Integrated Cable
You will need to decide whether the nano backup batteries above are enough for your needs. For us, they are the right balance between size and power, and they meet our needs for a whole day at Disneyland. The same may not be true for you, especially if you like to stream videos on your phone.
For a larger and more powerful battery with a built-in cable (rather than a plug like the one above), check-out this one. We also use and like an older model of this one, with lightning AND USB-C cables in one unit.
FuelRods for the Disneyland Kiosks
We have not yet mentioned the option of FuelRods for Disneyland.
These are portable chargers (aka back-up batteries, power banks, etc) that can be found at kiosks around Disneyland Resort. You purchase the initial FuelRod, and use it like a regular power bank. Once the FuelRod has no more charge, you can exchange any empty FuelRod for a fully charged one at the kiosks dotting Disneyland Resort.
At the time of writing (November 2024), those exchanges are free. In the past, FuelRod has charged for exchanges, so this may become the case again in the future. For now, you need only to pay for the initial FuelRod.
We still recommend that you purchase a FuelRod BEFORE your visit and bring it to the park with you. In November 2024, the price for a FuelRod from a kiosk in Disneyland Resort is $38. If you head over to Amazon, you can pay less for legitimate (exchangeable) FuelRods. Here is the link for FuelRods on Amazon.
