With so many people celebrating Halloween today, we thought that we would share some Disneyland inspired costumes from our home. We have a monster from Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! There is also a cupcake beret for a Sugar Rush racer from Wreck it Ralph and a fish from Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. Of course, we also have some princess inspired costume pieces. We hope these photos might spark some of your own creative ideas for a DIY Disneyland costume.

Monsters, Inc: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! Monster Costume
We quickly stitched-up a monstrous fleece hat based on Monsters, Inc and Monsters at Work. It has twirly tentacles and an iron-on vinyl eye cut on our Cricut Maker 3. The hat is paired with an athletic style tee with a Monsters University logo also cut on our Cricut Maker 3 and adhered using an Easy Press.
Wreck it Ralph, Sugar Rush Racer Costume
Here is a sweet hat straight out of the game Sugar Rush from Wreck it Ralph. This floppy beret hat could top a cupcake or sundae. We like to match it with a “drippy” scarf and candy colored clothing. We stitched if from a scrap of fleece and hand sewed on some long beads. Then, we added a red balloon wrapped around a ping pong ball for the cherry on top.
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Schooling Fish Costume
Nemo and Marlin’s reef is full of colorful characters like this little fish. He is made from a baseball hat, scrap fabric in silver and rainbow and a pair of giant googly eyes. In Finding Nemo, our heroes might urge this rainbow fish to join them as they “Swim together!”
Sleeping Beauty Castle, Color Changing Aurora Costume
For Halloween this year, we incorporated a panel of fabric with flip sequins into a Sleeping Beauty costume: the sequins are pink on one side and blue on the other. This way our little Aurora can “Make it PINK… Make it BLUE… Make it PINK… Make it BLUE!” all day on Halloween.
The fabric we used was a scrap we had on hand. It is similar to this one, but we have not tried this particular brand.
Pascal from Tangled and Other Easy Princess Disneyland Costumes
We wrote about comfortable princess costumes to wear to Disneyland in this post. You can see some examples of our soft and stretchy tiaras and a fun tutu above.
We also paired a tutu and tiara with a coloring changing Pascal shirt to make a comfy Rapunzel costume. The awesome iron-on reflective rainbow vinyl we used is here. We had so much fun with this rainbow vinyl that we are dreaming of lots of other ways to use it for DIY Disney outfits.
